The active version of Arkio can be found in the setting dialog under the utility menu (after v 0.6.4 ) Here you can also change the general units of the app to be working in metric (meters) or imperial (decimal feet) and the default sizes for your hollow shell walls and stacked floor heights.
When Arkio detects a VR headset connected to the PC Arkio will start in VR mode with a camera following the VR user. This camera is slightly smoothed for spectators viewing comfort on a PC screen or beamer. users behind the PC can also switch this camera to a 3rd person spectator camera that can be controlled using the mouse and keyboard.
In this mode, your spectators can collaborate locally with your VR user using the same Windows PC. currently, the local spectator's general commands like sketching, painting, joining a meeting, checking the Area requirements and undo/redo can be done by .
Arkio can be also used without a VR headset, either in "desktop mode" on a PC or on an iOS or Android tablet or phone. To start the PC version in "desktop mode", simply start the app on a PC with no headset connected.
The non-VR versions can be useful both as viewers, e.g. to log into a meeting and see what's going on and which design options are being explored, but also to take part in a design session.
The tools available in the non-VR version of Arkio are:
- Create solid shape
Users can easily start or join a design meeting, and see the overall program sizes just like in VR.
Furthermore, it's possible to teleport around the model easily, undo/redo modeling actions and toggle different pre-set views (front, top, back).
On devices that support AR capabilities, it's possible to view the model in AR mode, and to paint and delete shapes simply by tapping on them. Please see the user interface overview for more information on using the non-VR version of Arkio.
