When working on studies for a new building it’s often useful to have a scaled map underlay that can be used as a reference for modeling the building in its current context and scale.
The map menu can be found in the utilities menu at the bottom of the main menu. When filling in a street or place name in the address bar a number of suggestions will come up in the top dialog that be selected to load that map on the site.
When the site is not in the correct positions or needs some further tweaking, you can also update the center location of the map using the pan tool on the map user interface. This will pan the map in the direction you move while holding the pan button.
The loaded map and location will also be updated in multi-user sessions so everyone can see the same data. Loading an address will automatically adjust the Solar and Time settings for your solar studies. This will be visible by the changing orientation of the shadow.
The global size of the map and working surface can be adjusted by using the edit tool on the 4 edges of the terrain or by loading a custom 3D model on the table that you prepared using other 3D modeling tools.
